Exclamation [Mirage Damage] Who remembers this from River Ranch 2006?

At the time, I did not post this on Scream And Fly, out of respect for the owner. I've always made it my policy to never use the misfortune of others as a means of popularizing traffic on Scream And Fly. There are cases where important lessons can be learned, however, and those are different. However, this occurred over ten years ago, and I thought I could share this since many of you where there on the sandbar with me that day.

I remember seeing this Mirage making a very fast pass and becoming flighty when reaching some sloppy water in front of the sandbar. The driver was very skillful in avoiding what would have been a horrific accident when the boat hooked its starboard sponsor and nearly struck the sandbar. The driver was able to recover it, and this was the damage observed immediately afterward.

    I was there
that day,and the driver of the boat was Chris Randal,he hit boat wakes at speed and went left and almost hit a pontoon boat pulled up on the bank,,he regained control and got it stopped and saw it was takeing on water and beached it.That was very close to be a nasty outcome. The big guy in the picture is Justin Burnett,,,long time member of our boating clan.....Ed

Time goes by fast, Lee has the camera out "look at the size of that thing". He was running that boat hard non-stop up until this happened.

Chris sustained a pretty good arm and shoulder injury from holding on tight and keeping control of the boat . This is just one more reason not to make high speed passes in a crowded bottle necked area like the Hill , One more lesson learned the hard way at River Ranch . Keep it fun , it's not a race . Sure glad it turned out this way .

Matt on the lake "headgames" bought that boat from Alabama Paul folks had it before it went to Alabama. I rode next to it a bunch on the Suwannee and lake tarpon. Jack did a great job fixing it even ten years later you can't tell where the damage was.

That's great to know. I was actually going to ask what became of the boat. Glad to see it's repaired and back in action all these years.

The boat still has the stress cracking from where his shoulder slammed into the side.
