It is cool to make your own stuff, I made a OMC ignition anylizer for setting the timing on the 60 degree motors. but just so you know you can get one that plugs into your volt meter for about $26 plus shipping. I have one that has given me years of good service and still works great even after my abuse. I can diagnose voltage regulators and stator and power packs with no problem. CDI Electronics has a great free troubleshooting guide with all the specs and what wires to test.

Hey one more question guys, are the cdi switch boxes reliable? Or should I get only mercury boxes?

I use CDI electronics for all my motors. Since I learned how to use a DVA meter, I have become the local shade tree mechanic and replaced a lot of parts in my time. I have used CDI parts for many years now and they have proven to be quality parts and they provide great customer service. Some of their parts are better than OEM because some OEM parts were flawed, or lacked certain features. CDI has spent a lot of time researching ways to improve quality and function of the parts they make. And no, I do not work for CDI. :-) I am just a very satisfied customer.

Hi, i didnt find a 400v 2.2 cap local.
The shop does have 250v 4.7 capacitors. So if i use two of these in serie as suggested before will this be equal result as one 400v 2.2?
I know this thread is old but it sure is relevant still today!
