Are there any pictures of the trim cylinder for the super strangler, is it true it is similar to a prestolite tilt cylinder for a Chrysler outboard

If my memory is correct both the cylinder and pump assembly are stock Merc parts. The lift pump assm. was the same unit as the trim unit, it just didn't use the Merc cylinder. The lift cylinder was incorporated into the swivel tube.

I've seen pics of the earlier 62,63,64,65+ years using the exact tilt and pump as on the late 60s early 70 Chrysler before the trim cylinder was added. If you could build a pad for the trim ram to contact maybe it could be fit between the clamps. The tilt and valves likely wouldn't hold trim position. The trim and tilt as CHRYSLER also has a shock upright port side clamp , the trim between the shock and tilt tube. The later Force pump is a better choice , the trim and tilt and shock , same as earlier. Same mounting for the pump. The last style Force pump for the Merc years, not sure about the mounting but maybe worth checking everything for fit. The earlier Force pump is a bit taller than the CHRYSLER.

Yes that's it, tilt only. Use 30sae non detergent, the trim and tilt work well.

Trim only, no tilt. OMC used 2 of the pump assm, one for the trim and 1 for the lift.

Ken Cook company has a reprint of the original StingerGP parts and owner manual. Helps a lot to figure out what parts you have, are missing, and go together.
