Insurance for a 21 Xtreme (Skater) in Florida
Any ideas on where I can get an insurance on a 2005 Xtreme 21SS Catamaran in South Florida? I'm the original owner. Had insurance with Progressive but they won't renew.
Thanks

I had 2 Safeco agents tell me they called and underwriting wouldn't touch a Talon 22. Did they ask whether it's multi-hull and what it's top speed is? Was it written by a local agent or through someone out of state? Does your policy give a stated speed and coverage area?
My Foremost policy states 98mph up to 75 miles offshore. I'm told Foremost won't write "inland lakes and rivers" in Florida, I tried since it will never go "outside".
Of course Perry, FL is a different market then S. Florida or even the Daytona area where I live. From talking to many agents, both local and online, some the biggest performance boat insurance agents in the country, the conclusion is Foremost is the only company writing policies in FL for boats faster than 90 mph under 26'. Even then only select Foremost agents can write the policy. Go to the Foremost site and select find agent for boat insurance near you, only those agents are authorized.
As mentioned above, Wozencraft should be able to write the policy, they are a preferred Formost agency able to write nationwide.Last edited by mjw930; 09-20-2016 at 07:59 PM.

Last time I searched in South Florida for my Daytona 21, only carrier that would write it was an obscure carrier that would write liability only for something like $2400/year. Carrier I was with (blanking on the name) just plain stopped writing in Florida. I think the boat thefts in Florida have scared many away, and they have no interest in writing liability on a boat worth $10,000 because they don't make much on the hull insurance. Now if I ran a $150,000 newer big brother to my boat that runs 30 mph faster, they would write me.
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
