2003 Vmax200 oil tank and prop free spinning

Last week had boat out tubing. Let someone drive boat and he hit ground not sure about how hard. The oil tank reservoir would not fill from tank. I replaced tank pump. Still not turning on and has power to pump. Filled reservoir with oil and tried to test. Jumped on take off then free spun to 5000 rpms without gaining speed. Is there any way the oil pump could cause this? I'm going to buy a new flotorque hub and see if that cures problem. So I lost oil pump (coincidence?) and problems with lower. Spins freely in neutral. Locks in gear and turns only with compression. Lost at this point. Unless it hit so hard he disconnected wire somewhere I do not know why new pump will Not go on. And free spinning.

Bought new hub. The old plastic hi was cracked down middle. Same problem.

There is a float in the oil tank on the engine that triggers filling it from the tank in the boat. Check that that circuit is functioning.

Oil pump will not cause your 5000 rpm without speed.

If it was not the hub, either

Something has broken on the way from the shifter in the boat to the lower unit, so it does not shift correctly into forward gear, or

the lower unit is broken
