Do you know the exact area where the rowing would be, or where we should start to slow down? I used google maps and measured from the ramp at Shellmound to the Veterans Bridge is, according to Google, 39.2 miles. That's a pretty nice ride! I think the group I was with only went about 18-20 miles last time, I am looking forward to running the entire route this year.

I don't see any rowing events scheduled for this Friday, but when they have them, they have boats set up to let you know it's a no wake zone when they're around. Usually paddle right in front of the aquarium at The Riverfront, but they'll venture a ways downstream too when they practice. Practice boats are fair game, just be polite.
EDIT Just saw where UTC is having an event on Saturday. I'm sure they'll have the place clogged up on Friday as well.Last edited by freeebird; 10-04-2016 at 01:44 PM.

It's very well protected, but the current can be pretty strong downtown. Had a duck trooper give me hell about my wake there a few years ago when I came through with my big boat heading upstream. I told him I could drop my anchor right then and there and STILL make a wake! Didn't seem to bother the rowers, but he got all torn up.

Yeah when you approach the first bridge downtown I would fall off plane and idle in, if not for the row boats the to keep everyone's boats from banging into each other

Keep your eyes peeled on the river for rollers. One sent me sailing and there were no big boats anywhere around. Just from the current.
Hope you guys have a great run. Post some video.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"
