Thanks, sorry for the delayed response. I posted some pics of the new interior on a different thread last year. Page 24:

Ray, I'm most likely the closest to you if you want to see one of these.

The LaveyCraft is most likely going to be the heaviest of the ModVP's you list as it's the biggest and the HST the lightest. The LavryCrafts were more or less marketed as a performance family boat back then. I've owned both and prefer the LaveyCraft for their quality gel coat and build. I noticed no difference between the wake my HST put out vs. the LaveyCraft.

    Lou

    Hey Lou,
I might like to see your boat, What city are you in? Also I noticed a 2004 Hydrostream Vegas XT just came up for sale. Do you think the quality might be any better on a newer build? And do you know anything about Triad V21's.
    Thanks Ray

Dmy stoker was a solid ride, i currently own a 21 checkmate, the chine walk is there, but i needed a little bigger boat and the stoker did not do well in the bay near where i live, way to rough. The stoker is nice but if its really rough not much fun.

Of the modvp style listed the Stoker has the most v in the front of the center pod and is the best in rough water. When it gets really rough the bigger deep v is going to be better.

We boat at Fontana Dam NC. The lake is very remote And water is pretty calm most the time. If its too rough I will use the tritoon.

Plus the turning capability of a tunnel sounds appealing.
If you experienced that sort of thing, it needs some setup help. I have a 21' Checkmate Pulsare that runs in the low 80's, and have no such problems. I'm going to sell soon, because it's more boat than I need on the small lake I go to. But honestly, it's a closed bow, and I think you would need more cockpit room if skiing is your thing. I don't ski anymore, but I'm thinking if I did, my primary concerns would be plenty of room with an open floor plan, and a low freeboard (ease of exit/reentry). And I suppose, wake characteristics.
The Lavey's I've seen look like nice boats.

    Lavey tunnels

In the lavey lineup the following models do not have a flat floor in that you are walking around the tunnels themselves when moving around the boat.

    18'10
    20.2

These models are very light (no floor) and fairly thin, thicker than a baker (whose lifespan is shorter because of that) , about like Stokers of its era.

The 20.8 and 22.10 were fresh sheet designs.

These have flat floors and can take I/O power as well as outboard power.

The 20.8 is most popular of the line and was one of the very first boats to posses molded in swim steps and a molded in " screen".

Mine ran 90 with a 500HP small block in it. Im about to find out how fast it will be with a 725 BBC in a month or so.

    Have fun- boat safe.

With a properly rigged I/O your grandma can drive a 20.8 and turn it like Bill Seebold.
All the outboard guys, and my own experience is that is markedly easier to drive than its outboard counterpart, but the room in a big outboard is great and with a big one it'll step up and go. Not HST fast, but fast enough kill yourself if you run out of talent.

Another thing about the 20.8 / 22'10 to consider is that above about 80MPH with an I/O it will require external steering of some ilk.

The other thing is continued speed in the high 70's with external steering will wear out the gimbal and this is an expensive fix. Left unfixed you can have a catastrophic failure or simply wear it so much you destroy the rear bearing of the engine.

The only way that works (thats been documented and Im still working on a fix) without cutting the swim step is to use an ITS transom system from Merc which is an awesome but very expensive part. I've seen picts of cap based systems I can't seem to get any manufacturer to stand behind.

You can see the exact sizing issue with the gimbal Vs the step in this video

You can get a good idea of how a setup 20.8 rides and performs in this video, its my first post cancer ride in a Nor Cal reservoir called lake hogan, I did nothing all day but give rides to the families you see in the camp at the end.

Thing rides like a set up sports sedan on a lake- fast enough to make grown men smile.

If you want you can take a virtual ride with us around lake Hogan.

at some point I think late 4 or 5 min, I take a flat turn about 8/10 of a g at about 60 with 5 people in the boat.

PS: Some one always gives me flak about vests over this, everyone is always offered vests, and everyone refused. They are in the nose floating and under the seats and this was pointed out prior to anyone getting on the boat.

Dave you posted the boostpower video in your last post and it sounds like you meant to post something else. Thing sounds bad ass though! Can't wait to see/hear how it performs

Was more trying to how the position of the step and the gimbal how it will block an external ram and that vid was really the only thing I have that showed the angles involved, I should have pulled bunch of stills from the video

    Thanks Though!
