    3,000lbs for a 28 foot V. Interesting.

The tough 28's look like a superboat on steroids. Just plain cool looking. Are you selling it or keeping it??

    Awesome thread!
I think he has it set in his head to make it go 100 mph and he has the resources to do it...

.400's has been done, and this boat has original 5800 rpm limited 250xs motors and ran 92. The 400 boat the driver doesn't seem to be chasing top end but 100 is a snap.

I'm hoping Wildman goes with a single, bone stock 300XS for the 100mph effort. Low maintenance, good fuel mileage and I think the hull will actually look a bit better visually with a single.

A single 300 would be challenged to go 80 mph, much less 100+. Twin 300's has a chance to see 100 but it will take some setup. Actually, if you want to go stupid fast the hot ticket is the 725 Ilmor and it brings the CG forward which is what you want if the boat gets air.

With 1000+ lbs hanging 12" back from the transom this will probably need a forward ballast tank to keep it from launching nose high off waves. If all you want to do is balance it on the pad in smooth water for a top speed number then it's probably ok but that's a waste for such a capable offshore hull. A well designed forward ballast system gives you many more setup options.

Great idea but what is the dollar cost difference to do it this way ?

Tuff said they ran the 250's with 24" of setback and said it could use more. They also ran sportmasters 2.5" below the pad in a fixed position. This boat has a big notch so i'm running a 17" porta bracket which has 12" of lift. I can run any hieght i want. The boat is made to go fast, not so much an offshore wave crusher.

I painted the green stripes on Saturday and did the marble this morning. I'm hoping to clearcoat the deck and windshield Monday and sand and buff on Tuesday.

80 with a single would be good enough for me. Either way, it's going to be cool looking when those colors are all done. Pretty unique look.
