This thing is going to be cool but I would need to have 3 for sure. Acceleration on a triple engine boat is so addictive and this hull is plenty big to still be balanced. I would love to be in a position to do a project of this caliber "its no cheap deal".

What ends up happening is the windscreen looks too tall on top of the boat - in my opinion. That's what I don't like about the look of the MTI 34X - the boat is super low profile, with a huge round windshield stuck on top of it. I feel there is a happy medium between the tall standard-deck boats and the ultra cut-down boats. Pete has also built boats with the sides of the hull canted in, which also looked strange to me (not a lot have been built with that feature). But all of that is what makes Skaters so different (and "cooler" imo) than every other boat out there - no two flat deck Skaters are exactly the same! They are truly custom built to each individual buyer's desires.
Will be interesting to see how tall it ends up. Maybe the guy is short LOL!

Random question: What determines the motor centerlines on the sponsons for a cat hull? Is there an industry standard dimension or just the rigging/manufacturer preference? Read a post by Linder that said the prop shaft centerline should be 3 inches in from the inside tunnel but he was using a surface drive set up in that reference. The X-cat motors all seem to vary with their set ups.

I think it really varies by manufacturer. I know that Pete likes to run the gearcases as tight as possible to the water coming through the tunnel on the 28s - 55" centerline on a 48" tunnel. He says he likes the props to grab the water coming through the tunnel, but the gearcase to be just clear so as to not create any drag. From how close to the outside of the sponsons the motors are mounted on the DW32s, it looks like Doug likes to run them farther toward the outside of the sponson. But that may just look that way because the sponsons are a lot narrower - I've never seen a picture taken from directly behind the gearcase on a DW32.

Here are pics I took of Matt Rice's new 368. From what Pete said, Grant is on a mission to make this boat very fast........ There will be another 368 being built with 400Rs soon after this one - it won't be near this cut down, more of a standard cut, flat-deck build than this purpose-built boat.

Wow, it is really cut low. Would seem OK for a race boat, not so sure it is safe for pleasure boating. One reason would be taking on water over the stern. I guess they will not try to save so much weight that they eliminate bilge pumps, another 8 lbs.

If you're visiting the holy-land, please take some pics of the 36 for us and post here

Pete is proly concentrating on the cockpit, inside the bilge/transom areas, and the windshield receiver, pics would be great

also, approximately when she'll be blocked to make ready for paint

Thank you Razor for giving us these updated pics! Looks great!

Thanks Razor. I also noticed, I believe, in an XCAT photo that the motors were out further on the DWs.

Like I stated previously, there is not a lot of transom on that hull for mounting brackets/engines.

I'm pretty certain it's at Grant's by now for rigging. It was in the paint booth to be sprayed when I was at the factory last on 11/07.

Gheez Ron, if Skater can't get it painted and out the door in two months after this pic was taken, something's wrong!

I just heard that it's still there! Steve's 318 will be the representative for the Skater outboard boats again at the Miami show now. I heard the reason it's still there is because of a rigging issue with the ROS motors.
