The Blonde boat in the first pic...is that the same guy that punched a hole in a yacht with a later version?

Blonde ....
Rodger Hanks ..... I think the race officials had borrowed someone's Hatteras to do their observations and Rodger decided to run by them close to make sure he got scored .... slight miscalculation on what is close and what is too close! Lanham probably has a picture of that accident in his scrapbook. Can't imagine what the owner said when they brought his "boat" back with a big Cigarette resting in the front stateroom!
Greg, thank you for all of the effort you have put into bringing all of this history back to life, great memories

In those days, Cigarettes fiberglass lamination schedules were ridiculously over-done. The boats were "really" heavy-duty, meaning THICK. With any speed at all, they could run right through just about anything... Great to have some of these old shots. Thanx Greg/Parker/Randy for sharing them.

I could be wrong, but if memory serves, this boat was derigged & sat in someones side residential yard in North Palm Beach, Fl., and rotted away for years, very soon after these couple years of racing.
