I have a 1998 Mariner 225 Super Mag that I'm having shifting issues with. I have an anodized shifter(I've used many of these over the years) from one of the aftermarket companies. I can't get the motor to shift in F-N-R. I can only get it to shift into F-N or N-R not all three. I've adjusted the cable, I've changed cables, the shifter itself has two positions in which to mount the cable. One for a shorter throw and a second for a longer throw. I have it set on the longer throw but it's not enough.. I've used this style shifter on many other boats in the past rigged to both Merc and OMC and have never had any problems. What gives? I've adjusted the cable many times, If I take the shift cable off the motor, I can manually shift the motor into F-N-R by hand with ease. I'm stumped and any suggestions/advice would be great!

thank you in advance...
