Todd + Johnny really went out of their way to update these cans . From developing a bubble free pour method to much more accurate machining tolerances , heat treat and surface finish . A true work of art ...

The thing I really respect is that they waited until the Taylor Marine doors were closed and the company's asset's were completely liquidated before even mentioning the revised cans existence . Let alone advertise them for sale to the public .

Sorry if this is a dumb question...I am just a little out of the game. Thinking about taking on a project that has a pair of 2.5 20" offshore mids and fat shaft sportmasters. Is it possible to adapt a 3.0 to that mid and lower? I don't even know if the crank splines are the same. It will NOT be an offshore application. Lake use only.

Tim if you go that way are you leaving the mids at 20"? Also the 2.5 water pump is much smaller than a 3.0 liter. If you decided to stay with 2.5 lowers get them cut to 15" then have a 5" extension made to adapt them to 3.0 crank splines. If project fails then you don't have bastard lower units.

You will be very unhappy with 3.0l and 1.87 gears. It would be more cost effective to sell your lowers and. It 3.0 1.62 than building 1.62 2.5s.
