Thanks though haha. I was nervous on the color. I didn't want a "pimped boat with 13" gold wire wheels on the trailer look ". I think the color turned out really well. Looks nice in the sun. Should be on the water in a couple of weeks.

Nice work. Looking forward to see how your exhaust manifolds work.

First start up. The manifolds work great so far. No leaks and they stay cool.

Finally got everything plumbed up and all the wiring finished. Ran a water hose from the house to where the jet feeds the engine with cooling water. Turned the water on and started the boat. Everything works great. Alternator is charging, no major leaks, no engine blow by, and no crazy sounds. Waiting on a steering cable and then the boat hits the water for its maiden voyage. Fingers crossed.

Finally got the boat to the water over labor day weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. With me and my buddy (larger buddy 300lbs) a cooler, large fire extinguisher, and a full tank the boat peaked right at 50mph on the GPS. I couldn't believe it. I've never been in a jet boat. The holeshot was awesome. Felt like I was at top speed in seconds. The boat runs 50mph at 4700rpm. Based on the hp the engine claims factory I'm guessing I have a C- cut impeller. Everything on the engine that I built has worked out great. The headers stay cool with no leaks. I'm still surprised at the way this junk old 318 out of a dodge truck actually performs.

It's sure is the muddy Ohio river. Turns out the jet has an A impeller. I ended last year by spinning a rod bearing. The motor is a 318 with tons of miles. In the process of rebuilding. I'm staying with the same setup since it worked so well. Bigger oil pan. I love the boat. It's a blast.

I had the same boat with a 460 and the original burnt orange metal flake. I bought in on eBay and drove from Orlando to Mansfield OH to pick it up.
I loved it, but I thought I needed louder and faster so I eBayed it and shipped it to a guy in New York. Should have kept that one.
Yours looks great BTW. If I can figure out which drive I had my old pictures saved to, I'll post one up.Last edited by Road Trip; 05-26-2017 at 09:30 AM. Reason: addition
