Sounds like it is going into slow due to overheat. I would start by installing a new OEM water pump kit. You mention low water pick up, what size hose and fittings does it have?

Could it be the neutral switch from improper linkage setup?

Yes that is the switch Tim is talking about but it will not set off your alarm. Switch is more for getting out of gear. When you installed the kit did you make sure all the o-rings were in and sealed? What part number did you use? Your alarm may be from fuel vaccum but that would not put the engine into slow.

That is the original number but if that is what you were sold it is old stock as that number has been replaced at least 2 times to my memory, 434421 and currently by 5001594. The 5001595 will develop a bit more pressure as it does not have the bleed hole in the housing by the starboard rear bolt, this pump is for what are referred to as split line lower units but works good when a couple pounds of extra pressure are needed on non split line. Of note this is not factory.

When shifting with motor NOT running you must turn prop or clutchdog can land on top of teeth and not shift, or motor needs to be running.

How much pressure do you have? At different rpm. Verify proper fuel delivery?

Problem solved.....more water pressure around 7 psi at idle ! There more.....I have no rpm gauge last year ( bad rectifier) and I notice that rpm fluctuations around 3000 rpm , 100-150 variations, back home remove plugs and the top one are white and the other one (7) are brown. Last year evinrure dealer clean carburetor . It is normal or not that the first carburetor mist a bleed just above the screw ?
