    E-tec 150ho vs G2 150ho

I have a Glastron Carlsson CVX 16 on the back burner.
when done the plan was to hang a new etec 150 ho on the transom. Some people say that the 150 is stretching it in wheight. The 115 ho seems to be a great engine but it's only 28lbs lighter than the 150. The problem now is that BRP introduced the G2 the old ho will probably be superceeded and the G2 is a whopping 77lbs more than the old.

Finding a slightly used 150ho here in sweden is more or less impossible so new is the only way to go.
Will the new G2 be way to heavy for my little carlson. I seriously doubt that it will perform better than the lighter one on my boat.

    IMO both are too heavy.

Yea well theres not much tho chose from for me. I can buy a new E-tec for a lot better price than new merc and the merc 150 are about 11lbs more then the e-tec 150.

The faststrike 150 would be a perfect match because of lightweight but they are worth gold if I can find one and nearly everyone is in sad condition.
I missed one 2004 Johnson 150 carb a couple of years ago and haven't seen one for sale in sweden since then.

There is a beautifully restored cvx16 here in our area. Not sure if he is on here. 150 ho on it.Runs 71-72 with a raker. The boat looks drop dead gorgeous and runs awesome. He absolutely loves it.

The G2 150 is availible with standard steering and tilt and that saves about 30 lbs. Still the new small block G2 is very heavy. As heavy or heavier than four strokes. I think brp dropped the ball here.

I have a 16 foot Baja with a 115 HO. It is a beast compared to the 100GT I had before. I would not want any more weight.

Wow! I love it. Saw it the other day on FB but I did not notice the 150ho while on the phone.

would really love to hear about the rebuild of the boat and setup with the e-tec.

I always wondered if anyone has ever hung a G1 150HO on a fish hook scale to get an accurate weight with fluids.

Look for an old 130 or 115 hp Yamaha V4 2-stroke.

They are very reliable, not uncommon in Sweden and should be much lighter than a V6.

If I remember correctly they are about the same wheight as a OMC 1994-2006 carb V6 150 so they are on the heavy side.

I'm sorry to post to this old thread but I have seen some tests where new G2 150 H.O. is slower than G1 150 H.O.
Has anyone more details about this ? Some say that old 150 H.O. produces 175 hp, some say it's only 165 hp.

I have not seen any comparison of the G1 and G2 150's. We have a G1 150HO and love it. It's on a 19' flatbottom ski boat. Back to the original post, if it matters, Evinrude now have a 3 cylinder 150 that he could put on a 16' boat.
