I do not know who Bill Gohr is and have never met him but to start a thread to beat up on a person..good or bad is not very tasteful in my world.
Just my to cent..

^^^^Lars have you ever been taken advantage of by someone who you had helped and put your trust in? I appreciate your point of view. Just don't agree with it. If the thread saved you from being bilked by the guy it is worth the critical comments. No offense taken.

Again, point taken. Possibly others know the history and choose to let it run as a public service announcement for those that scavenge the www for hard to find services and parts to keep our niche alive. Every post in the thread has value. It at least gives the unsuspecting data points to make up their own minds on who to do business with and who to avoid. I have personally started threads with the exact opposite theme. I sent out props to Casey McClellan after he stepped up and did the right thing on a transaction. When you live in this community, and strive to keep it healthy, it makes a difference to someone in the end. Again, no offense taken. Your view is valued also.

I met Bill many years ago at a race north of here. We worked together on someone's boat and got along fine. I had heard rumors before therefore stayed clear when it came time to make certain decisions. I have known Dave just about as long. He is a very easy guy to deal with and we have always got along fine. The big difference is a matter of character. Dave gives a rats ass about his reputation and strives to represent himself, the sport, and this website in the best way possible. Bill doesn't know what any of that means or why it should matter.
I have argued before the importance of this type thread. These threads are not a bash session as much as a warning to the unknowing. This place gets new people every day. Many have no clue about who is who hence the importance of these threads. Very important website in an extremely expensive sport providing an incredible amount of information which makes moderation critical. I am personally glad they leave this stuff up. Seen many go by the wayside and in my opinion that has given this site credibility.
I am grateful for members like Dave, moderators like Greg and whoever he has helping, and the existence of this site. As far as guys like Bill go, I know they are given the chance to build a business for very little investment and unfortunately they all end up in the same place. Opportunity wasted.

^ Lars - you seem to be a good guy - how is it a personal attack if what you are saying is truthful - and many having the same story as you? Like Rock said - these types of threads are in place to warn others. I don't understand what you don't see in that. Do you feel it is ok for someone to steal your property ? to tell you one price and then change that price dramatically when he knows your on a budget ? to hold your motor hostage, to not give a receipt - to want to deal only in cash - to damage your property to only express an " Oops" Did you not read that even his own friends think he is SHADY - if that doesn't speak to you - you just don't get it.
You ask at the end of your post who is next....
I ask who is next to be his NEXT victim - it is threads like this that help prevent him from making one of US the NEXT to get screwed over.God, Country, and Fast Boats

Lars has made his point. He doesn't like it. We got that. Many others have shared personal experiences with a talented but unethical outboard tech. Move along.
