Hydrostream Catalog Boats
Some years back, we had a member here with a Viper that was actually in one of the later Hydrostream catalogs.
To me, no other boat has such a special meaning to me as a Hydrostream does. Growing up, seeing those metalflake boats and dreaming of owning one. Metalflake is just the coolest thing ever.
I'm wondering where most of those boats ended up. It's strange - I see old Hydrostreams such as the V-King YT posted the other day, and even in their decaying state, they just look cool. Like old musclecars found in barns.
To me, no other boat looks like a Hydrostream. There are certainly better and faster boats, but a Hydrostream is the classic muscle-boat to me.

I agree, I've owned a vector for 25yrs, watched them raced when I was a kid, 50+ boats different classes, 75hp and up, classic they look fast sitting still, I love my SS Allison, but the old streams are classic

Could not agree more Greg. They had a few great aspects to them, that all came together at one time. They were affordable, they were metalflake, they had the best "out of the box" styling for the times, they're performance was the absolute best, and the very best Mercury outboards came out at the same time, and last, but not least...gas was still affordable.

Bought my first Hydrostream Vulture in 1978 brand new it was $3000 and put on a brand new 235 Evinrude $3600 it was the first year for the 235hp. A side stringer cracked in late 78 and I put in a warranty notice thru dealer and they repaired it, then in 1980 the bottom got spongie under stringer. Sent the boat back, striped, to Hydrostream and they gave me a brand new 1980 vulture for $800, the cost rise in 2 years they said. Howard told me it was not built to proper standards.

Not quite from the catalog, but thought I would share a few pictures of our 1989 HST. This boat appeared at the HydroStream booth during the 1988 Atlanta Boat Show. Thanks to a member here (JWTjr.), we found some factory photos online of the boat while it was on display. After spending the past 26 years here in our area, the classic HydroStream lines and colors are still exciting to this day. A few pictures of the boat, both now and then.
