A Wildcat is a shallow tunnel boat with the pad slightly above the sponsons

A Polecat is a Wildcat which the pad has been added to and the pad is slightly below the sponsons. All Polecats started life as a Wildcat as there were never a mold for it, the factory paperwork was listed as a Wildcat. The Polecats are shallow tunnels just like the Wildcats

The RR or Ski Racers are Jaguars with a much deeper tunnel and the pad is below the sponsons, there was also a closed deck Mod-VP boat that has the deep tunnels

The Polecats came about because the Wildcats had been outlawed by several racing associations due to the amount of blow overs and the boat being a true tunnel with the pad above the sponsons Rodney Nance received the first Polecat as he had a boat almost complete, he is also responsible for naming the boat,

    i hope this helps

I believe it's all in the bottom, looks like the sponsons are shorter in the back of the boat and flat , if u look at the side shot of boat ull see what looks like a step in the outside sponsons as far forward as where the steering wheel is not sure as to tell the diff between polecat and wildcat tho I have a skiracer and my bottom doesn't look like that and I believe skiracer and river racer have same bottom

In my opinion a Polecat and a Wildcat in 800’ are teal close, I believe the Polecat's more forgiving with things equal. I have a friend with a Wildcat that is very wuick

My Polecat has been very good to me along with consistency. Been running 660 and 800 ft when we go to jet boat gatherings. My brother has one also with the same results. Running 2 out of same shop has its perks.

just thinking out loud here ....someone could add "x" amount to the pad and make it a polecat in theory ...yes?
if that is only difference. and therefor "more forgiving?"

I don`t know if that's all that was done. I`ve heard that an insert was used in the Wildcat mold near the backs of the outside sponsons to raise them off the water to spill trapped air. Then after the boat was pulled some depth was added to the center pod for the same reason. I don`t know this to be true but was told it was.

Sorry fellas I was the first one with a Polecat and won DSRA 1994 Modified World Title with it , I outran 52 boats in that class that year in MY class alone....

Mirage Wildcat verses Polecat was the same boat only difference the Polecat and a piece of 1 1/2 Kollegah cell glassed onto the middle pod .....
