22 Activator 300xs
Need some help propping my 22 Activator. I'm putting a 300xs Optimax with a sporty 1.62 mid, 10" setback jackplate. What's the best prop for overall performance for this setup? Then what would be the best speed prop.
Thanks for your help

John,
What "performance" is your goal? Top speed or rough water handling.
Also, does your Activator have a notch in the transom?22' Activator w/ 250xs Merc Opti, back home again

Your setback should be about right with the weight of the 300xs.
My favorite rough water prop was a 4 blade trophy, an older one, full diameter barrel, but new enough to have the hub style prop so it was usable with the fat shaft.
The small barrel trophy plus is good too, just not the one I liked best.
Hope that helps a bit....

No problem,
Ask me anything, I owned mine for over 10 years, first rigged it with a 2.5 liter 280 and then with a 250xs with a setup more towards rough water handling and cornering.22' Activator w/ 250xs Merc Opti, back home again

I think you might be better off with a 1.75 gear ratio if you have a choice.JMO

I would also talk to Todd at Hydromotive 330.425.4266/3629. In the past couple years he has developed a prop for the Big Barge Allison XB 21 fter at 1400 lbs. After testing lots of different props and styles he has come up with one that propels the big bass boat to 97.5 mph with only a stock 250xs. Water temps were 90 deg!! Also that was only one run testing. Hears a clip showing not only the run and gps speeds in the boat but how loaded with gear the boat was being tested. It had excellent hole shot and over all great manners at all speeds up to 100 mph. i would think that prop would be an excellent choice for any larger vee Hull with the XS motor setup. Very stout well made option. Todd also has a very good customer satisfaction policy. Im sure if you talked to him he would be happy to work with you on achieving your goals. https://youtwww.youtube.com/watch?v=2p3HD3ItC6Qu.bp3HD3ItC6Q

I know that boat, 175 gears would be better I agree as mentioned above though see how it runs first with what you have to start with. I recall that boat did best all around with a Bravo XS wheel or a large barrel Hydromotive 15" as it likes/needs alot of lift.
