    Mercury 25ss 15"

Early-mid 80's 25ss with, what I was told, the "Phaelon?" ignition....I was also told that it was a "better" ignition than the standard ones but don't quote me as I am not an expert on these motors. The last time I drove it the mota ran great and had good water pressure but that was about 4 yrs ago. It comes with these two props in excellent condition (that I will separate, if desired, if the motor itself sells 1st) I painted the mid/lu a couple years ago with a "high solids" spray can paint. Other than the mechanics of it the condition is prob an 8.....Its not perfect but all there and ready to run.

Motor is located near Milwaukee WI and I would prefer to have someone pick it up, or I may help meet you halfway if you are fairly close. I could set up some kind of shipping but am working on getting my house ready for sale so I couldn't crate it up and ship it immediately....but if one is patient I could figure it out, at the buyers expense.

$1500 PM for details and Paypal OK

Naked...I think the cowls came out on the 25xs, I never seen an SS with a cowl but again I'm no expert lol. I had a guy from WI that says he wants it so I'm going to call him later today to make sure he is going to come and get it.

Strange rat engine combination on that engine with a non standard Phelon mag. The 25ss engines originally came with CD ignition that IMO was far more reliable and accurate than points. Appears somebody adopted an early (probably 1970 -72) Merc 200 powerhead (padded cylinders?) on a 25ss tower and gear case. Does that engine have the correct fixed jet KC16A carb? The first Merc 25ss with CD came out in 1973 (that's when I bought mine for APBA racing) and the last 25ss built were in the mid 80's when the 25xs came out with the looped charged engine that was much faster than the 25ss and made them obsolete for racing the stock outboard class.

    Sounds right to me too.

    Cool lil motor.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
