12" Slidemaster. Same as I use on the 21 Liberators.

I agree with you on this^^ it's problems(or designs) broken done into the very elemental parts of its composition with equations that "approximate" how it should react. But as they say: "The truth is in the pudding" and guess who gets to eat the pudding?
It does, however, have the "pudding" closer to the right taste when you start cooking.

you gots to ask yourself is powerboat construction close to a Boeing or is a racing yacht?
When you compete in a class where a Million dollar carbon hull is thrown away every year and you buy another maybe just maybe these guys have the best in the business and their computers designing the next one.
The average powerboat is still built like the technology hasnt moved forward for 40+ years
You buy a racing beach cat these days and you ask who did the FEA on this construction design and of course carbon preg cooked in autoclave, thats just normal these days.

Do you think the Liberator's bow was heavier than this Talon and needed that set back?

The Liberators are probably lighter. I have always used 12 inch brackets. Never tried anything else

A pic of my previous boat after I added Dana Marine swim platforms. The Talons are almost impossible to reboard without the platforms. Mine was rigged with a Bobs jackplate with 10" setback. Talon was still making boats when I purchased mine and Gary said that was the best all round way to go. I've mentioned before and I'll say it again the rear deck hatch is a total waste of space and needs to be retooled into a fortified hatch with sun pad. That was my next project but I sold it before that was done.

Those billet swim platforms look sharp on the boat.

You may want to speak to your buddy Dale about filling in the bow too. He knows what happens if it get's stuffed -- just sayin'

Randy was intentionally given a heavier model to see what he can do with it. The boat Randy got has the lay up for what we are putting in the twin engine lay up and the customers who want a heavier single. As I talk to more and more people, they are wanting heavier boats for the better ride. I still get guys wanting 800 lb and lighter, but most want a strong 100 mph boat. The guy who has one of our lighter boats (1000 lbs) loves the top end is right now at 110 with stock 300xs and a Mike Nass engine cowl, but I personally would rather have the heavier boat and just make the extra power. This boat Randy has will still run 100 and last a long time.

Been there, done that since the first boat rolled out of here. They are all glassed 100% all the way around. Besides I have talked to enough of Dale's friend's and they have all confirmed he was born with lead in his foot and can not lift even if he wanted to.

We put a VE filler in and then lay a 6" wide 1708 tape over it.
