New 2016 Talon 22 Build thread

OK, so everyone knows by now that I will be selling the new 22 Talons built from the original molds now owned by Screamin Eagle Boats. Todd just delivered the first one yesterday. I started laying out the dash today. I'll cut all the holes in the boat before I start the paint work. I gotta say, this is probably one of the best built boats I've ever seen. Everything is fully cored and the hull is like thumping on a rock! The inside glass is also very smooth. The hull and deck are glassed together all the way around. We will probably making some interior changes as time goes on. This will make more interior space. Here's the first pics.

That's a nice hull, I seen it in person before the deck was glassed on.

Here's a few showing the glass work. The body seam in the rear is curved preventing using a metal rubrail. (It doesn't want to curve sideways) I will glass the transom smooth and delete the rubrail.

This was from the other thread on the building of these beauties:

As of right now the hull, deck, interior insert, rear hatch, transom, 2 transom knees, 3 full ribs and 4 half ribs weighs 1120 lbs. I want to add 2 more knees (just because) to the transom and still have some taping (glassing) to do. I think I will be under 1175 lbs. My goal weight was 1100 lbs and now that the next boats are 100% balsa and marine plywood free, that will be very easy. More like 1050 or less. I talked to a Talon owner the other day that said his is 1325 lbs bare hull and runs 102 mph all day long with a stock 300XS, not jacked to the moon (conservative) and at 6400 rpm. He said there is a couple more mph in it, but like the set up as is. That makes me think 110 mph with a stock 300XS is possible with this boat or darn close.

I don't know on the weight. VERY solid boat. Rolling around on the cradle makes me think it's heavier than a Liberator. I'll weigh it after I paint it but before I rig it.

Yeah, that's what everybody says. To be honest, the new garage is too nice to work in. It's great for a boat showroom though. My shop is too messy anyway! I only keep the boats I'm working on at the old shop. All completed boats are in the new garage.
