I finally started putting a piece of flexible plastic on my right side To keep from looking like I’ve been kicked by a mule. Racing inboards and turning left Wasn’t quite as bad
All these issues disappeared with safety cells and 5 point harnesses but created a host of new problems like air supplies, rescue, radio communications, hans devices, and so on. This also added cost and wiped out the APBA category numbers that we had in the past.

...amen to that gene. until someone has run offshore to experience the abuse, they will never know. i have pulled my arms out of my shoulders & had three doctors pulling & twisting it to get it back in place, cut finger tips off & sewn back on, been slammed to the side so hard i saw stars, been slammed to the floor over & over again, etc...all for the love of offshore. hey wait a minute, that could explain a few things couldn't it?......

GENE Flying red Bird on the Marine Stadium course coming around the outside island in one of the six or nine hour marathon. Outside the island is like an ocean race.

Delbert set a speed record in the mid 70's in his class.
I will try to find some pictures.
