Like the Jag XKD race car, it was money well spent. The investment is still providing returns.

The original point was to get into the south/southeastern US market where Mercury had little brand recognition and market penetration. OCD took over and in the long run it paid off with his frustration giving him the door to quit car racing.

Baird Hardware was the main entry point into the Florida market.
