Makes me wonder what sort of course markers/lights they had out there. Certainly weren't following a GPS track.

I’m not sure this may be just one of the key K for legends. Rumor has it that Mr. K Had all the alligators in the lake line up on the outside of the lake so you could follow their shining eyes as you want around the lake. The one closest to the finish line had a big cigar in his mouth That Mr. K Threw in the lake on the boats didn’t go fast enough or far enough for his likin. Truth or fiction who knows

A full moon would have been enough light to stay away from the shore and cypress trees.

Subsequently at Mercury Lake X they added these buoys. And the night boats had headlights.
