...when G.G. was given Aronow Powerboats to run, by the new middle-eastern owners, he was given an open checkbook to operate it & promote it & tool up the many new larger offshore Aronow boats he came up with. even though he/they built no "smaller" boats, like the one pictured above...that was where his background & heart was, so he "also" sponsored many other types of raceboat classes, kilo boats, products, etc., for promotion of Aronow Powerboats...

I only remember enough of this to be considered dangerous. I think I recall Gary telling me that a few weeks after Aronow's death, he drove to the plant to see what was going on. He suspected that the plant would be in a state of confusion. No one was directing traffic, so Gary just 'took over'. Don't recall how long that went on, but suddenly the "owners" showed up and Gary was shown the door ..... he didn't argue!

...the timing on that seems a bit off, but my memories timing could be off too. it was 34 years ago, give or take. if indeed gary did do that, he had no idea what he was walking into. i would be surprised if he would be allowed on that street, for even an hour. you had to be there to understand.

Thankfully I had RETIRED--and moved to Colorado--permanently (witnesss protection program)

But---Doc Magoon had been Don's best friend --(and Gary's too??)
