There was only one "NASCAR Sports Car Race", held in 1955, in Raleigh, N.C... Elmer bought this car to enter & win it, which he did by leading the entire race & finishing first with a huge lead. He used his best NASCAR driver he had...Tim Flock. It was the first in a production run by Mercedes of only 29 cars. It is an alloy body with lightweight windows, high performance suspension & oversized braking system, performance gearbox, and a much higher horsepower engine, directly from Mercedes.
