i have a 1973 tunnel flite im redoing and i am wondering what i should do about steering and clearance. I was thinking hydraulic because i dont have much room can anyone chime in and help me out. The current setup is dual cable but when i hook it up the motor wont tilt and the steering is some what limited when i turn the wheel to the left. Thanks

from the pics you posted, looks like the cables are too far forward, they should exit in line with the tilt tube.was the duel cable setup on the boat when you got it?

Heres some more pictures of the height and a picture of the boat. The current steering setup you see was stock or at least how i got the boat.

That cable setup is horrible. The geometry is far too severe. It can be done with cables but you'll need longer ones that exit the deck and pass through the tilt tubes. Lots of work and expense. Hydraulic would be easier to rig, but even more expensive.

I found a hydraulic setup and have no problem buying it. I never set one up and its hard to tell from pictures of others setup.
Can anyone tell me if i run it out of that dual cable hole will i be able to set it up and mount it to the motor without clearance problems when i go to tilt the motor?

so long as you have enough hose length.
