Reed Cage bolts stripping
I purchased some reeds a while back and started pulling the old ones off today.
I have the correct tool and size bit but I am stripping the heads off of several of them. On whole side of one are all stripped. Any idea how to get them out etc etc

Not sure the heads are large enough to use some voce grips etc. They are pretty small.

How did you get the screw out after you bringing them?

After grinding head off...reed comes off over screw...then from the heat usually can unscrew whats left by hand...

Two things,be sure you are using the proper fitting bit. There are many now days that are close but not right.Last take a block of wood mount the cage to it,put it in a drill press, and with a long bit use the down pressure to hold the bit while turning the spindle with a large pair of vice grips.

Where do you get new screws?
What locktight do you use to reinstall?

Screws,Fasin all, aircraft spruce? I usually have a few donor five petal cages laying around.Blue lock tite, and don't over tighten, you can deform your new reeds!
