Where to buy outboard mounting bolts- 316 Stainless and Brass Locknuts.
Any good ideas on where to order sets for mounting my motors? I'll probably buy a quantity of 50 or 100 so I don't need to look around again, the local places are either insanely priced or they're not offering anything. Thanks.

Parker Merrick can't get them, said that none of their vendors make them. You'd think in south Florida, which I'm willing to go anywhere from Daytona to Miami- someone would have them in stock.

I assisted Chris Marsh in getting his stainless fastener business going, back in the early 90's. He lived on a boat to get started, so he could afford to jump start his little startup business. He's always been in Jupiter. Good guy. He's sorta close to you. Give him a shot. If he doesn't have it on the shelf, ask him if he can get them. www.MarshFasteners.com Preferably, you want 1/2-20 fine-thread 18-8 stainless hex bolts & brass NyLoc 1/2-20 nuts...and both regular stainless flat washers AND 1/2'' AN washers. We always pushed the bolts through from the back side of the outboard bracket, with double S.S. AN washers, with a bit of TefGel on the threads. Large S.S. flats on the inside. Never tighten the bolt. Only tighten the nut, with the help of an assistant. Turning the bolt ruins the caulking/sealant you also sealed the bolt hole with. Double bolting(two bolts at the upper end of the O/B bracket) isn't a bad idea, its up to you. Surprised Parker-Merrick didn't have what you needed, I bought all this stuff from them for decades. Mercury also sells 1/2"-20 stainless bolts & brass/silicone bronze Nyloc nuts/washers, don't forget...Hope this helps

Friends with any local center-console boat builders, that are always rigging large outboards? Ask them where they source them. If not...just pick one & cold call them. Ask for purchasing. Get creative...& tell them you have one of they're older boats that your restoring/repowering and how much you love this old boat, blah, blah, blah...You'd be surprised how helpful some of them can be, lol.

Errol Lanier is using the silicon brass 1/2 20's with stainless bolts. I don't need anywhere near 6" and 4" bolts. I'm onto a source now for the silicon brass, but probably takes more than a couple days for replies etc. Thanks Fujimo!
