If you have run 18 gallons it's time to go to 50:1 with good oil. A sneeze usually means lean or if hot coming off plane quickly to idle can cause it. You need to run with your final cyl psi and 50:1 with good fuel and syn oil if you have it. Then do your final tune.

Yep as 10 hours plenty.............and on a sneeze? Just tossing this in the mix did ya replace/check reed petals? Common cause "sneezing"

Agreed - I'm taking it out for another spin tomorrow - Supposed to be sunny and 80 ! Summer is finally here. I need to get this gas out of the tank.

Honestly, I don't even think it has 10 hours ran on it. I'd say maybe 4-5?
Reed petals are the Boyesen carbon fiber ones now. Dual stage. Wet sanded the plates too before installing the petals.

Dunno on your's, but a merc inline sneezing is caused like said from lean. One thing to add, the sneezing can cause the fuel pump diaphram to blow, at least it did on the merc inlines....

I Really think the increased exhaust port height, and squared up intake ports let the motor flow more freely, thus most likely more lean.
I need to get the fuel in the tank burned out, and refilled with 50:1 before I make anymore changes. Gotta limit the variables !
I'll do another compression check this afternoon and verify where I'm at.

    Agreed
Check your pump if you notice any new gremlins.

Compression hasn't changed. Picture is of cyl 2. Top cyl 1 is slightly lower, Bottom cyl 3 is slightly higher.
Plugs from left to right are top, middle, and bottom.

Time to get some good fuel in, and cut the head.
I also am looking into getting my top motor mount custom machined as a solid mount. While in the no-wake zone on Saturday, I noticed considerable flutter. That can only be worse on the top end.

Decided to throw in some plugs in the water pump pickup holes while I was at it, for the next time I try jacking the motor.

Plugs look good me with only a few hours running 25/1. Maybe a bit lean, but your on it. On the plugs WPU? I like it! Easy idea and nice thinking!

Looking good! Your almost there..no project goes without some kind of glitch.

Going from 25:1 to 50:1 will richen up the A/F ratio a small amount, as the added oil displaces a small amount of fuel.

Also just something to think about solid mounts for your motor...If you don't need them, I wouldn't use them. In the boats I've had where I needed the steering stability/control and used them, things tend to vibrate loose. Requiring attention now and then, and using something on screws to keep them from unscrewing. I used a dab of 5200 on my stuff. Not a big deal, just a heads up.

That boat you got there really turned out great!! A real head turner.. Great Job Done Very Well
