Dave built my '04 200 efi,on my paramount 21, 2 yrs. ago with wsm pistons, and the thing runs great,no issues pushes that 1800 lb. hull to 60 mph, real quick,I bought a 240 sport jet block from him,and a blown promax, and he's rebuilding it with wsm's for me this winter for my AE-21,I have no reason to doubt those pistons, shane and max are both running 90+,every wknd. with their pm's.

Thanks for the info on the WSM pistons guys... they sound like they may be the ticket.
Has anyone ever had them top pinned?
I'm pulling the motor apart tomorrow and are picking up the new block next week.1989 21' Skater - twin 2.5s

Pro marine website says they have std,.015,and .030 vertex in stock at the moment, but it changes quickly. I've never used the wsm before, but would like to hear more about them

Newest WSM catalog I saw now has the Promax piston (with the 1,5 mm) ring at 99$ dealer and 167$ retail. They are a good piston, but I think they may have lost a lot of potential sales jacking up the price.

I know this is an older post but that’s one of the reasons why I’m bringing it back to the top.
I’m looking for follow up results after 5 years from the guys that have or had decided to run WSM’s. I’ve read a lot about the three main piston manufacturers (Vertex, Pro V’s, & Wesco’s) but not much about WSM’s.
Questions are:
1. How long have y’all been running them in your motor & how are they holding up?
2. Longevity of pistons keeping side pins in after few years of heat cycles?
3. Anyone top pin these pistons? Or has anyone ran into issues with top pinning them like what I’ve read with Vertex pistons?
4. Any ring clearance issues with them in a steel sleeve motor? (like Wesco’s)
5. Any or all reason you didn’t like them after choosing to run’em over the other big 3 brands?
Please keep in mind I’m not looking for high rpm results. Let’s say nothing above 8000 Rs to be safe & the application is in a 2.5 Merc
They look like a nice piston plus the 1.5 mm ring is an advantage in my opinion but I need more info than just a pretty picture on the internet.X-Stream Vegas

I'll kick this off ,
Wsm has exceeded everyone's expectations with 0 issues , no ring issues or piston issues , I run em and getting another set , also evolution marine is using em in race motors with great success, I've also heard from a builder that uses nothin but wsm and he says he thinks they have exceeded vertex or prov pistons , I hear quite few issues with vertex ring gaps but that could b machinist fault but more than 1 or 2 cases idk. Therez another thread talking bout all the pistons goin on also
I didnt top pin and turn mine over 7k , others been up to 8500 9kLast edited by Merc 2.5; 02-25-2020 at 02:01 PM.

I’ve used them in many Promax and production motors with great results over the years. I have not received any reports of any failures to date.
