convert carb to fuel inj question

I thinking about converting a 2.4 200 to fuel injection, and have been looking at used setups. Will all I need is the fuel pump, ecu, plenum, front half with injector/rail?Can i run my stator and switch box with this?

I installed a 1987 220 EFI Laser induction system on my '91 2.5 carb 175 powerhead. It's been working fine. If I was doing a similar conversion (but didn't have any of the EFI stuff) I'd recommend contacting Tony Brucato and at least use one of his adjustable ECU's in conjunction with dual EGT's to confirm you are tuning in the right direction. In my case it may have just been a matter of luck that the fuel curve on my analog setup seems to be working out ok in my basically stock setup....though I do watch my dual egt's like a hawk! If I had the bucks I'd spring for Tony's adjustable setup in a flash.

    I have a complete

setup for sale. If you are still looking let me know. The curves for the 175-225 are not that different, mainly at the topend. On the bottom , you can adjust the TPI so you already have some flexibility. Tony's unit looks like the bomb but maybe you are trying to save money. The 2.4 should use less fuel so you may be a tad on the rich side. It should work well though. You should have a 5 petal intake . Also I always get the injectors flowed and back flushed. I prefer to run the pump in the boat rather then use the sump system that Merc uses but it depends on it you are going to premix or not . Let me know if you are interested , its a fairly simple swap and I have all the parts in a nice clean box ready to go. 815-622-4543

Thumbs up Carbs to EFI ...

Iz a very simple deel...U kan use a 2.5 set up on your 2.4, juss by elongating the 4 center holes on the intake...a 200 2.5 Box will work on your 2.4...But for tuneability, Tony's box kan't be beet...My 10pack is built out of a 1991 2.5 XRI setup, and I run it on 2.4, 2.5 and I now have it on my 2.0...Haveing injectors flowed on a river motor iz kinna overkill to me, because U kan hook up the box and fire injectors and see the spray...if they are the same spray, go for it...If U want Maximum performance, or the previous motor the EFI came from burned a piston, then have injectors checked...also, wit Tony's box U kan eliminate the TPI...There a lot of laser units out there, so U shouldn't have a problem make'in the swap...also, for the river the XRI iz a better unit for the river than the horn, the XRI hits much harder down low and haz better lowend performance...and wit a lil modifications, the XRI will run wit a horn on top end!!!...REX

he was talking about a 2.5 style monohorn injection

you can do this get a 2.4 bp efi front half
    line bore it
get a fuel rail + regulator
    get a 2.4 plenum
and a good efi box (tony is having a great ajustable box)
put a pump in your boat and go

    i am building a 2.5 optimax 150 with a 2.4 plenum + fuel ra
    il
    light weigt flywheel
    i ported the engine as a 260
i have found a good matching 2.5 front half with the injector holes

but with the 2.4 its maybe more worse too find a good matching front half
so you have too line bore it

you can run your stator and switchboxes

you can run your own stator and switch boxes
if you planning too turn high rpms you have too put on a lightweigt flywheel and a 16 amp stator

thanks for the help!,wish i could get tonys ecu but ,short on funds,I`ve seen three different types of intakes, horn, the one with separate throttle plates, with the injectors installed in the air box and the intake that has the throttle plate at the bottom of the motor, which one of these is the XRI setup?

Haz an air box, with the injectors in the box, and the 4 butterflies are in the back of the air box...and the ecu iz mounted in the front ov the box on stock applicationz...REX
