If you look at your 2nd pic and then think about building with no floor sysyem you can see how the hull and upper tunnel has no support..Thats a realy thin part of the outer hull and just why I rebuild my 2 yts with a floor again..Still your job is looking Awesome!

Thanks Brian, its coming along little by little. That foam is no fun!! you where right about that, but im glad all that wet junk will be gone. you are absolutely right about that section of the tunnel being thin, i can actually press on the outer hull with my hand and see it flex. i would still like no floor in it for the weight, but i will have to really re-think those tunnels. they will need some type of support. i may add some ribs going from the outer hull to the inner tunnel...... i still have some planning to do.

I wonder if running some shorter stringers on the top of the tunnel kind of like what they do in comp vking's would work? Tall stringers in the pad area and the shorties up top. I would think that would be enough support while not adding too much weight. I love the comp Vking yt theme for sure.

Kind of like this. Run stringers like the ones that the deck "wings" are bolted to.

[QUOTE=Erik C;2781241]So i guess what im asking is... Has anyone heard of a plywood Core?[I'm nearing completion on a '83 Bullet that had a plywood core in about 4' of the pad. To eliminate it, I ran all 3 stringers all the way to transom and tied them in as knees. In addition I sandwiched 2 layers of 1/4 balsa with CSM and covered with 1708 in the bottom of the pad]

I don`t have pics but i had a Mirage 4 seater built light with no floor at all. There was a 1/2 inch board glassed flat against the sides of the tunnel on both sides. There was also a board layed flat on top of the tunnels. This was all done while still in the mold. I never had any structural problems with it and it`s still going to the lake. I sold it to a friend and he put a 300 ProMax on it. He did have a new transom installed due to rot. If you would like i`ll see if he can snap a few pics and text them to you.

I also had an HST that i removed the floor from and i did no extra support because all of the wood was rotten and offering no support strength and it didn`t flex so i figured why put it back in so i didn`t. HydroStream put a lot of unnecessary crappy wood under the floor and didn`t seal any of it. They just squirted a bunch of foam around most of it.

My Rappid Craft Riot had a floor for the back seat but none in the front. That boat was built very well. If you want to build your boat the right way find a Riot and inspect it closely then copy it.

Thanks DB... ill try to find some pics of the Riot, so i can use that as reference.... im sure there's someone out there running a tunnel with no floor. i would like to leave the tunnels open on top if i could, i only worrie about the tunnels flexing along that inside section of flat running along the V-pad. ... than again like you said, my core was so rotten there was nothing protecting it as it was before. i think a few ribs drilled out and glassed in there could be good also. thanks again for the info.

That's my Riot. It is a very well built boat. The only wood in the boat are the seat bases you see in this pic that I ground out and refurbished and also the gas tank mounts. The entire rest of the boat is foam cored including the transom.
