Wink Those of you with decent setup: how much speed/rpm do you gain motor down vs motor up

Done lots of searching/reading with minimal results. Just wondering how a properly setup boat responds? Speed/rpm prop submerged vs. After you get on the plate and jack it up to surface? What's your experience - anyone that will offer is appreciated. On the quest to learn more about setup and make a somewhat educated guess as I start collecting props

    Corey,

Post up some details about your boat and you will most likely get feedback from someone who has had one.

Joe, I did that last week - let it ride for two days and no replies, figured my situation was uncommon. I'm getting ready to do lwp, and convert to a hydraulic plate so that I can run a prop capable of surfacing duty. Kind of putting feelers out to get an idea what to expect so I can get a prop on the way, my current 19 is giving up at 6krpm and the boat actually slows as it revvs higher to 6420. Summer is fading fast, just trying to make some decent choices and gather info.

I ordered a turbo fx4 for my general purpose fishing prop for now. Has a lot more rake than my current prop, a little more pitch, and according to the tech line can handle being jacked up and still bite. I'll probably pick up some form of an exhaust over chopper before next season just for sandbar days. Only curious as to how much ppl's boats respond speed and rpm wise motor up vs motor down. I'd like to keep mine spinning 65-6700

Good point. I also posted a simple question about two weeks ago and after four days, no reply so I deleted it. It's very sad that even with a real question you can't get an answer. saddd

Ha, yeah I feel ya - sort of. I'm willing to bet that my original question was unique enough that even guys with experience with more typical speed projects chose not to reply either bc they take pride in their advice and like feeling certain, or came by it.the hard way and don't give it up a easily. For me anyway, if I don't know, I don't talk... don't get too discouraged. Figuring it out is half the fun. Just looking to speed up the process in my case.

We moved the motor up on a buddy's tunnel the other night and it went almost 4 mph faster with no other changes.

My boat is sensitive to 1/4" adjustments. Be patient, write down EVERYTHING and keep a journal. It will save you time and money and help get the best out of your package.

Good point on documentation. I usually only do that for chassis setups and occasionally for motor tunes when I'm messing with nitrous. Hadn't even considered that, great idea. Another member pm'd me on this topic just a few minutes earlier and he basically said the same as far as his boat being quite sensitive and picking up QUITE a bit with minor changes.

My SS2000 is very sensitive to engine height. When I experimented with height on my 16 baja plus or minus an inch had almost no effect.

    your experience may vary.

thanks guys, between PM's and this thread i have all i need to go off of for the time being. I was just kind of making sure i was spending money in appropriate places and it sounds like its at least worth a try for the manual to hyd plate conversion from bobs and doing my own version of a lwp. all info/advice appreciated!
