OMC stern drive ?
I know I should not have done this but.............I took in an old OMC stern drive to work on and I can't figure out EXACTLY what I've got. It's a 140 HP inline 4 cylinder, model #980703. I've got two OMC model reference books and neither one shows a match. They both have a ****load of 990 #'s. Anyway, customer thinks it's a 1977. It's on an old Hustler boat, square nose tri-hull built in McHenry IL. Any help sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

that was fast
Mostly just the year at this point, if I know for sure at least I'll have a fighting chance using the right manual. I haven't really gotten into it yet. Put the battery on charge overnight, get started in the a.m. Customer got the boat from a neighbor for nothing, it supposedly hasn't been run in about 6 years. I'm just trying to see if it's even worth trying to make it run. She doesn't want to spend much $, obviously, the things not in too bad of condition. Told her I'd take a quick look and give her my opinion. Why is this not in the model reference book? Any idea?

ohh man
What I know about those is the drive sproket/coupler between the drive and main housing wears out in one season of use.... Used to do that every year as a teen ager for my grand pas Viking deck.2006 Action Marine Comp
