With your pad changes, you may not need as much positive trim to run at the same angle of attack. Having the motor more neutral will give more fwd thrust and more speed. That big roost is just wasted thrust. A roost no higher than the motor is IMO the most efficient set up.

I agree and now you know why I am redesigning the pad, so the boat will lift with less trim.

Look at the pic of my stream, it won't roost much even with the shaft level with the pad. Can even see the prop beats. Give it positive trim and it will bite you quick. After I blue printed my hull, I had to learn how to drive it all over again. It is no speed demon, only goes 86-88. (fast enough for an old fart) Took some time, but I can hold it wide open for miles now. I laugh my butt off when some one else tries to drive it wot tho. 28p worked Lightning ET 1.75 gears. on the limiter LWP lower from bobs.

Now after finishing up the sanding on this I will be gelcoating the bottom. What will be needed to start and finish this project. I have used silver tip epoxy resins and 17oz cloth, is there a brand of primer or barrier coat needed then the gelcoat? Thaks for any help. Buddy

Dura tec makes a good primer for going over an epoxy resin, when finishing out with a gellcote or paint.

KIng thanks for the fast reply, is there anything else needed or just the primer. Thanks again, Buddy

Fair it out well with resin and cabosil putty before priming. Try and not use filler over the primer. Except some pin hole and scratch filler. And re prime over that before final sanding and spraying.

I'm getting ready to paint over an epoxy, is there a specific type of primer for this application made by Dura Tec?

Vinylester for below the water line and the polyester for above. Always do a test area to ensure adhesion is good when using over epoxy resin. Wash epoxy resin with water and scotch brite pad, then sand with 80 grit is the usual procedure. Poly just sand w 80 grit. Can use hi-build or reg grade for filling scratches and barrier coat. Hawkeye ind. is the parent company. Check the site for all the products they have, and applications, procedures. Safety sheets etc.

    Buddy,
Since your work is done in epoxy why use gel?
I would finish out with Imron or Awlgrip. These will be a whole lot less work as well as plenty durable.

Looking great so far. Gelcoat is a LOT of work, it will never lay down flat, regardless of what additives you put in it. There will be some/lots of sanding and polishing required. Don't forget to add 'wax in styrene' or similar so that the gel will fully cure to a sandable surface. For an extreme example of the gelcoat and sanding required, check my build below:
