Wring up a jack plate switch, use the trim/tilt switch?

    Hi,

I have no experience in this area and wondering if people ever or typically use the trim/tilt switch on the control box for the jack plate and re locate the trim/tilt switch, or if there is some way to combine the two onto the control box handle?

The boat this is going onto is a flats fishing boat and really the reason why it's getting a jack plate is to allow me to close the transom off (ie the setback and lift gets the engine over the closed transom) and also to pull the engine up for operation in shallow water without changing the prop angle.

One thing that comes to mind with this setup is I'm gong to need to always first bring the jack plate fully up and then tilt, to avoid hitting the transom. So I was thinking it would make sense to operate the jack plate off the switch that I'm accustomed to using, and to put the trim/tilt switch elsewhere.

    Thanks!

    Jon

Yep. Dual stems. They're excellent. One for trim, one for jack.

look at the merc cruiser controller. it has 2 switches on the handle for either use. you can also add turn signal type switches. they come as either single or dual units. there is also the foot petal switches.

i run all the switches thru relays and fuses.
