I don't have a 1994 Mercury Manual but the 1996 Merc Technician's Handbook says 5600 RPM for the 200. I would think that it would be similar for your year model. Anyone else?

max rpm is relate to 2 things. the first is the oil mixing pump, which limits rpms to 6200. the second is the carriers for the crank bearing. if you have plastic carriers the 6200 again is the limit. metal carriers can go to 7 or 8000 thousand rpms.

for your motor i would limit the max to 6200.

Seems like I read here somewhere that late 90's 200 EFI and 200 Promax longblocks have the same part number, but the promax has a 6750 rev limiter. Is this right?

I've got a '98 200 EFI with a 200 Promax ECU, I run premix. Am I good to run to the limiter?

Mother Merc does that rpm drop to protect the motor which will = longevity.

So do these late 90's 200 HP EFI's and Pro maxes sharing the same rotating assembly part # come from the factory with metal caged bearings?
