    Evinrude V8 3.6 v 4L

I know this is been discussed before. But I can't find it and I've been looking till my eyes crossed.

Are the 3.6L engines worthy engines? Form what I have been able to figure out the difference is the bore is 3.500" versus 3.685". Is this the biggest difference? How about carbs and ignition differences.

Carbs were big bore 3.6, Ignition is the same execpt for newer have quickstart and SLOW warning,I think. Most of the motors were 25" with the ones in 20" coming through Second Effort. If I remember right. That was 28 years ago.

Besides the displacement difference, I believe the 3.6 porting was different, early big bore carbs ('85 and part of '86, something like that) to mid , ignition went from dual packs to single, early pistons were flat, big bore were domed (3.6 ran more comp.) most were the 20" with the exhaust snout (that Ive seen anyway), 25" were mostly the 275 and 250 fishing motors without the "offshore" mid (I guess theyre "onshore" mids?). From what I remember, theres other stuff...
If youre looking for big bore carbs, Ive got a bunch.

Thanks Guys, I enjoy my Stoker 4L but don't want to abuse it. If I can build this 3.6L and beat the snot out of it while preserving the original engine I think I'll enjoy the boat a little more. I sweat every time I splash this thing. I am always pulling the carb drain plugs making sure there isn't anything in the fuel system that will stop up a jet and cause a lean condition. now have 2 good lowers so I am going to raise the engine a little to get some extra RPM's so that I can spin my larger prop closer to 7K. less restriction and more R's should increase performance????? I am just trying to learn as much about the 3.6 V8 as I can.

Thanks again!! Any further info is appreciated!
