    Changing ECU

I'm changing from an Anologe to a Digital A-6 on my 2.5 260! Woo Hoo! I'm changing to 56 lb PR, and a new Bosh Fuel pump.

But my question is: Do I need to change my timeing?
Do I just disconect my TPI and remove?
Is there anyhing that I should think about?

    Thanks!

According to the instructions that Tony Brucato furnishes with his ECU, "the battery should be disconected before changing any ECU".

    Map Tube Elbow

The elbow on the horn has a different size hole. Some say it doesn't matter but it ain't worth it not to change the $2 part.

    Changes

You need to change the nipple in the air horn to the smaller one, If your analog had an external TPI you need to cut the 3 wire harness back and solder the blue and orange together. The idle timing on the Digitals is higher than the analogs but you may have to do that by ear because you don't have the correct air haorn and bracket with the throttle plate cracker on it

    Ana. to Dig. ECU

Would all these things apply to going digital with a 2.4 BP as well?
    Thanks, Dean

Yes, If you dont cut and solder Blue and orange, the ECU will have no clue what Throttle % you are at and will run like as_.

    Thank you Skydog!

You just saved me alot of grief. I neglected to mention I had an A-7 converted to an A-40 by Rapair and had them add a dash enrichment pot. I don't think the dash control would make a difference, but my first thought would have been a faulty ECU when it ran like crap. I was even told that I didn't have to do anything except yard the ext. TPI, thought that sounded to simple.
    Thanks Again, Dean

OK, So you mean? Solder the blue and orange wires at the harnes right? Now can I just use one of those clamps that join two wires together? Like you buy at Pep boys for 12 volt wireing? will that work temp? Permanant?

I'll tellyou this, I ran it without the wires soldered together, and it acted FAT! We leaned a little and it still was not crisp! I'm going to join wires today and let you guys no tonight if I see any differance!

    This board ROCKS!

    Thanks for the help!

    Those wires

complete the circuit for the map sensor. Doesn't matter whether its a 2.4 or not. When Skydog brought his stuff over there it ran like S__t. After a little touch up it came alive. You can use the jumper in the plug but I've seen more than one of those that fit loose and gives you inconsistent running. Just cut'em and connect them right be done with it. Make sure you change the nipple in the airhorn otherwise it will run rich at idle and that will make it not sound crisp also. If you had a 2.4 did you move the wire for the choke (enrichener) off the starter solenoid also that will make it load up at idle also every time you start it. I still find ones that haven't been updated yet so ya gotta look.

Also, don't forget to change the spark plugs, suppression plugs work the best I use the Champ QL77JC4's at .030

Bill, I conected the blue and orange wire's today. I still have not changed the nipple.

It ran very fat! Had very oily plugs, and cavitation plate was covered in smoke. EGT never got above 900.

I beleive my A-6 ECU is set on 100, it was about 65 degrees today, with about 60% humity. I'm running NGK-BUZHW plugs. I just changed to 26cc heads, but I thought they would make it run leaner. No?

Do you think the nipple would make it run fat on the top end too? I will replace it ASAP, and see how she does.

    Fat on top no

What Fuel presure reg do you have on it? Dark green or gold?(should be dark green) Look at your return line. Make sure it is free of debrie.Make sure your vac. line going to you ecu is not pulged.Or the little elbow coming out of the peltum is not pluged. Ohm out your air temp sensor. Make sure your battery is Fully charged.
