Hey Guys! Need some Looper Help...

Well i drove from Missouri to IA for a 1990 17.5ft Lowe 1730 it has a Johnson 1990 100hp V4 Cross Flow threw a rod out of the block area but all other parts are in great shape.

Well i found a 1990 Evinrude Looper 120 with VRO VE120TLESB... 300 bucks 120 on all 4 cylinders . All parts are factory and i installed it on the boat . I wanted to test fire it before i started wireing everything up . Pulled all 4 carbs they all were fresh kits with brown gaskets full of oil zero gas like someone hooked the wrong hose up from the vro tank .

So i pulled them all apart everything is spotless now. i go to crank it and ZERO spark on all 4 ... disconnected the kill switch still no fire ... Disconnected cylinder head temp sensor ZERO fire . I dont have a DVA meter ... im considering buying a new power pack / Stator / Rectifier and all 4 coils just cause i like knowing i have all my electronics in good shape and i run my boat at night alot catfishing on the Mississippi river here in St Louis and theres tons of barge traffic.

Anyone have any tips or parts they know that are in good and working shape .

    Thanks Rob.

Also i would like to ditch the VRO completely i have zero problems running pre mix and i like to know my motor always has the correct mix. Do i need 2 manual Fuel pumps or a single ? i dont plan to mod this motor at all im sure it will push a 17ft deep v quick enough in stock form for catfishing

Check spark with all 4 plugs out and a fresh charged battery. Sounds like its not cranking fast enough.

Can you use cross flow parts or loopers?
I'm not sure what a trigger your talking about is ?
Power pack? I just started last year working on them .
    Built a 55 and a 70.

Like Kevin said he gave me the same advise when I had no spark and I had new fresh batteries just too small for my application.

Oh I forgot I'm close to ST Louis and I have a spark tester and you can see just what is going on. PM me if you need it.

Thanks man I have a spark tester . I'm just trying to see why I have no spark . Just a heads up my motor turns over great . Zero starter drag my battery's are in great shape this is a zero fire problem . Just trying to see is there a way I can check the stator to make sure it's sending power to the power pack that powers the coils?

You'll need a DVA meter to test the peak output voltage of the stator and the peak output of the sensor coil.

You can make one yourself, real cheap:

You are absolutely sure the kill circuit is in good condition?

Also, if I remind correctly a standard fuel pump is not able to supply enough juice to the big block V4. There is a replacement pump without the oil side, but it's quite expensive. I run my V4 Looper with the oil side disconnected and 1:50 ratio in the fuel tank. Also disconnect the plug from the VRO pump to the wiring harness.

Thanks for your help. Im ordering Parts now . Im just going to replace it all . Its alot better then spending $9800 on a new motor. I just hope it wont throw a rod or something crazy for a while hahah.
