    dcb mach 22 twin 280's speed/performance questions

Hey guys, new to forum and first time post. Looking for someone with some experience running a dcb with twin outboards. We just upgraded to a 98' with 99' twin 280's on it. Spent most the summer working out the bugs as the boat had been sitting for 6-8 yrs. Just had injectors test flowed and cleaned for the second time. I ran the boat in lake elsinore on tues. Running 28 merc cleavers boat ran about 102 @7300-7400 rpm. I didn't stay in it longer than a few seconds but it didnt feel like it had much left. Questions are; with the 28s shouldn't it be hitting the 7750 rev limiters? I was expecting a little more out of it. I have a matching set of 30p cleavers as well but if it would only turn the 28s to 7400 then no way enough power for 30s, correct? Boat had a light load, small chest, only 2, about 30 gal of fuel total. Trim wise was probably higher than I've been told to run them, still learning. Coming from a single 200 semi v where trim was not a danger. Any advise, comparison numbers, ect.

Be careful with the trim you have a boat that will run over 110 mph and they like to run flat. Extra trim will not make it faster it will only get you in trouble. Take baby steps and learn the boat.

I had a 21 liberator with twin 15 inch 280s on it that we had to 125. Randys (Wildman) boat has run just under that with 20 inch midsections. Both boats would run high teens with motors at 3/8 of an inch lower which gave them better steering input. I don't know the weight difference that these two have compared to yours but keep raising the motors (make sure that you are seeing around 10 psi of water pressure), and I think you will end up with a set of 32 pitch wheels up against the limiters. One of the keys is to run a good set of propellers (both of our boats ran best with labbed 32 merc 3 blade cleavers that were thin and 14 5/8 diameter). I ran the boat with slight negative trim once it was over 100 mph the air will carry the hull and the gear cases will carry the motors-fly it level...

Are your motors mounted in the tunnels? The biggest fear that I have of these is spinning them out in a turn (due to the fact of the motor height)-I never did but Randy did more than once.

Something doesn't seem right there. My 24 Skater runs 110mph around 7200rpm with 34's. is the DCB as heavy as a skater? I have two 50 gal tanks, and when I ran 110 I was alone and no extra weight except fuel. Running 34x14.5 labbed 3 blade cleavers in fresh water.

Wiki shows the lake at 1300ft elevation which may result in some RPM reduction. Also on my 1999 280 engine was programmed to go rich above 7500rpm.
