Midsection top plates - swap 2 piece for 1 piece?

I'm in the process of doing a strip and re-seal of the midsection on my 2.4 Laser 220. I understand the later model engines have a single piece top section (sorry, I don't know exactly what it's called - between the mid and the powerhead anyway). I figure while it's in bits, I'd rather have the newer design with less to seal up and I imagine the engine mounts attach better also... Are these different types swap-able?

    Cheers!

Not a good idea,The one piece plate is for hippo motors. The cooling routing is not going to work well with your motor.

Ahh right fair enough then, cheers!

can anyone tell me the correct procedure for doing up the top mounts then? Mine had some kinda plastic poured over the nuts in between the plates, i assume to hold them, then tightened the bolts from the front once the plates were together with powerhead mounted? Seems weird, i dont get how you're supposed to tighten with the plates together is all

you tighten the upper mounts with the top plate removed 5/8" nut and long bolt comes thru the tiller,,then a gasket on top and the top plate has 3 big bolts on the rear, and 2 smaller ones ,1 in the center and 1 up front.good time to add solid mounts.

Ahh ok, so only the bottom half of the 'sandwich' while you're tightening... seems odd tho! Thanks mate
