Hull identity / copy of??
I have been told my boat is a copy of an old Allison SST. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone had any experience with this old Cobra bass boat hull or the Allison SST? I am really looking for some input about jackplates and which one to use. I have a Slidemaster 8" unit that really looks awesome on the boat but I am more concerned about it being setup correctly and not looking awesome. Currently I have a CMC PL-65 installed.
The boat is 17' and fully loaded with 12 gallons fuel, all my tackle/rods/drinks and me is around 1600 pounds or so....I worry that the 8" may be too much for the hull, but have also wonder how to really determine if the extra 2" is worth any real improvement. I hear conflicting information and just don't have enough experience to decide.

If I were you I would check out Bass Boat Central and go to the owners board and check out Cobra. If its not listed it may be under "Rare Brands". Guys will often post setup on their boat along with year and model and maybe even pictures.
