So did anyone ever run a 16 foot Dutchman with twin inlines?

getting ready to start the resto on the Dutchman and I have a pair of inlines sitting here looking lonely. Just wondering if it would be a correct fit without being a deathtrap....

I don't know diddly but I think a single would be fine. Lot of work for a twin and for what ? Unless you have a customer for it I think as a single it would sell easier. Cad

Jeff Titus's first tunnel drive was testing Wally Qualmann's twin Dutchman at the Stadium. It ran stuck so they went out 1 tilt pin. Still stuck, another pin hole. Now its free and running great. He passed a B hydro (also testing) on the front stretch when he realized he was looking several feet down at it. He let go of the hand-throttle which had bungees to pull it back...too late. Spent the rest of the day in the ER. I'll look for the pics next time I visit him.

If you could blow up that last picture in the sequence you would find that the guy swimming around with Jonny is yours truly. The needle nose bow on the right edge of the shot is "Big Ugly" my marathon boat. This accident was at the start of the "Gold Coast" and Johnny was driving Stu Gray's Carlson. When I arrived at the scene all I saw was a driver in the water face down so I pulled my kill switch and went in the water. Didn't even know it was Johnny until I rolled him over. After they got him in the patrol boat I swam back to Big Ugly and finished the race. I think I wound up second or third in E class that day.

Johnny and I were never best friends. About all we had in common was a love of fast boats and cars. We raced E class in South Florida for quite a while. Johnny was however one of just a handful of drivers that I felt confident in his skills that I would run side by side with him even through a turn. I certainly hope he beats whatever has got him down right now.
