UU-14 was a cut down and pickleforked Magnum Missile. That boat was the fastest Missile I ever saw. Albert had a habit of taking a saw to about every boat he ran. Everything from a Mitchell (also known a the fiberglass Raveau) all the way to this one. I was at the Stadium when Albert blew it over on the back stretch. He survived but was hurt badly enough he never raced again. I knew Albert for several years and I can honestly say I never saw him without a big smile on his face.

So I have kind of heard than Jan sold Dutchman to Bill Blough sometime in the late 60's? Trying to figure out the year on this boat. It has 1974 and 1975 Ohio Hull Stickers on it so it is in that area,.
Largecar, it has the same rear cover deck as yours. I have heard this was a Blough invention and happened around 1972- 1973. I tried to trace the Ohio registration records but due to Privacy act they willnot divulge any info on the numbers I can make out on the hull.
Also has a funky hood scoop on the rear cove that I thought some one added, but it is finished in the same black gel and old metaflake finish as the rest of th e boat.
Any history on who owned Dutchman after Jan and when they quit making boats would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

It was Bill Bought that bought Dutchman. I talked to him via email several years ago. He has since passed away.

So I am guessing from the over whelming response to this thread, there aren't many dutchmans left out there, or at least people who know what they have. Largecar I see your has the same funky hood scoop on it. Did you ever try to identify what year your hull is?

Yes, Bill Blough passed away in 2006. Bill added & subtracted a few unique things to the original Dutchman concept in the early seventies. One being the rear dual cowling. Another was a picklefork version of the 17, which was built for M. Donahue, but never used it(he bumped his head, died August of '75-Austria) It was later rigged & run with a Twister & an early Merc V-6, and lacked all signs of tunnel blowout. The pickled versions ran excellent for their time, in all types of water.

Tom, I think mine is a 71. Not 100% sure. I know the guy that had in new and it had a 1350 merc on it when new. I have talked to some guys here in Ohio that raced them in the late 60's/early 70's. From talking to them there was a couple of different versions. There was a pickle version at Indian Lake Ohio several years back in a storage yard. It was around 17' (it was not the 20 footer for sure). I 1st thought it had been pickled but after looking at it, it looked factory done. I tried to find the owner with no luck and then it was gone form the storage yard and I was never able to track it down.

There is also rumored that there is a Dutchman "wing" still left here in Ohio but I was never able to track it down either

Tom, The literature posted above by Powercat, is the only piece of literature ever published by Dutchman.

Fujimo- sounds like you are a good source for this info for sure. Very much appreciate your time and th einfo. Was hoping the ohio DMV would at least tell me what year th ehull was registered as but no dice. Hate not knowing whatyear it is. So they never had any brochures or info showing the funky rear cover and scoop?
interesting.
thanks

No signs of a hull number anywhere? Under the deck? Transom? A partial? Even if there "is" a hull number, it will be quite short, nothing like the hull numbers of today, which present a detailed code of record. United States Coast Guard hull numbers were not required by law until November 1st, 1972. Prior to this, any numbers/letters(if any at all) where placed on a boat just about anywhere, and were there purely for the record count for the manufacturers purposes only. For the record, Bill Blough Dutchmans last year of production was 1972.
