    Check with Barefoot Bob

He had Steve H. do his motor. It screams. I think its a 225 ProMax but its had something done to it. I think he's at around 80 with it. He and his dad both have Baja's and he's sharp on them so they know what props work etc. He posts all the time or look him up on the member search. Also I know someone looking for a blue or white Baja Fish and Ski if you know someone selling one. I think he wants a smaller one then yours though . 19 or 20ft I think.

I hope you got the e-mail I sent to you. At least I see where you are from now. To bad your not closer,I would have some props for you to try.
The guy my dad got his boat from works for merc in Wisconson. He accually got 2 MPH faster out of a 25 Tempest Plus. But the Trophy was still the best all around prop.

blurred vision....Thanks for the compliment. I have tried just about everything to my boat. And I purchased mine new in 1983. So I have had alot of time to play with it....LOL

Once it warms up and you get to try a few of the things we talked about. Post the results on here. It really helps everyone out. Someone might have a similar problem and it will probably work for them also

Do you have any pics of your boat? You should also post it right here. Also a pic of the transom would be nice. I would like to see if your pad setup is the same as mine. My 83 is the same as my dads 89

As soon as the ice is off the lakes up here. I am going to run my bobs lower unit. Then I am going to steal my dads(without a nose cone) and run his on my motor. I was told the same thing and was told by this guy, that he has seen gains up to 7MPH without a nose cone. I guess we will see wont we

If mine is faster I am going to send it in to Bob's and have it redone. It wasnt installed profesionally and is starting to crack and peel.

Finally some Baja Guys, I have been dying to chat about these hulls for some time. I have an 86 200 sunsport which I believe is a similar hull to both of yours is it not? It had a 86 225 Johnson on the back til this weekend when it decided to ventilate the crankcase. It would run right around 63 mph with a 23 sst or a 24 trophy on it revvin' about the 6100-6200 range. My hull is stonechipped badly and I would suspect I am losing some mph from this. With the jack up fairly high it seems to handle very stable and I would not be scared to throw some more ponies at her and see what happens.

I can't wait to see this yellow machine either...

How much setback do you have? I would think you would be right in that 70MPH area. I was running a 1987 225 Rude on mine and running in the low 70's with a Land&Sea jack plate.

It was faster with a stock gear case

And I was able to raise the motor way up with great water pressure. Bob's removed my nose cone and installed the tork tab for $333.00 It handles like a dream now

Barefoot, I am sure it will go faster with the hull fixed up. With my manual jack, I have about 6" of setback. I don't run it excessivley high because we still ski and cruise alot of rough water. Don't forget that the sunsport 200 is actually 20 feet 3" long as well.

Standard gearcase is what most Checkmate fans find work best too..

Thanks for testing and posting your results Bob!
