stv euro 300xs.. setback setup prop
2" setback on slidemaster manual jack plate.. 20" sporty 1.62 bullet of case tip is 1-1/2" above pad bottom..
Running 34p et by performance propeller.
Runs good to 85 starts hopping from left sponson and gets a little stupid..
I have drag 4 haven't used an a lightning et 32p on way..
Thinking of labbed vented bravo 1 in 34p..
Am I doing something wrong.. I can't power through hop safely I Dont think I may not have enoughroom at our creek.. If iI try to trim um and back down it feels like it will blow over...
Is it the prop or setup? Suggestions?

Mabey try lowering motor to 1/2 inch above pad and try a 3 blade 34 merc cleaver. My River Rocket loves merc cleavers, they give boat alote of stearn lift so def lower motor.

I agree with Jon on trying to drop the motor and see what that does. I have had good luck with mercury ET 3 blades running anywhere from 1/2" above to 1" above pad on my euro with a 3" vance setback. Some 4 blade props I tried seem like they lift the stern a little too much and didn't handle as good as the ET, they either made the boat porpoise or just feel really loose in the rear when decelerating. I carry too much stuff in the euro so I never have really messed with cleavers much, I'm sure with a light load a cleaver would run really good though.

My Euro liked ET's also and 1" above the pad, 6" setback. On mine approaching the "hop zone slow" and it was way worse, approach it fast and it's over in a second and after that it's like it was on rails.

The ET he is running is a Performance Propeller 15x34. Its a BIG wheel. I wonder if its just too much lift and your getting squirrely. Tim at Performance talked to be about reducing the blade width on it. You should give him a call.

I'm still going through the same thing as u. 2014 Euro with NOS 280 Merc 30 ET. 3/8 to a 1'' above pad 6'' setback. Thought I had it figured out the other day with 2 in the front seats and prop shaft level with hull nailed it from 30 and ran up to 96 great! Next day same setup with lighter passenger it started all over the side to side walk with the gallop? Been around 1/2 above pad talked to jack and a few guys on this page on how to measure height so I should be close. Any higher and I get the side to side walk bad. I even put a guy in the back seat and after the mile long gallop at 90 bumped the jackplate up a little once it aired out and felt like it came alive ran it up to 101 in a short distance at 7200. Have a merc 28 cleaver we run on a 18 couger Modvp I will try that next. Runs great with just me?

RDL how much seat time do you have? With a 280 the only thing that should make it bounce is not enough trim. With a stock sporty and that setback I run at 1" above. A stock sporty too low will make it bounce too.

I have a 30" Drag 4 and that was my 1st wheel on a 2010 Euro with a 225 Sport XS. Couldn't seem to get the bounce out with a 6" manual set back jack plate no matter of the trim or height. It worked good with 3-4 in the boat. I then went to a 32" Lightning ET (not a copy) and it made a huge difference, I have a 30" RE3 I hope to try soon.

keep moving the motor up as long as you have water pressure, same as baja200merc said. you will find with the big engine you can run it higher than the 2.5. mine was a handful with the 300x at 1.5" if no passenger in the boat, was easy to drive with a passenger. moved it up and it was a piece of cake to drive. mine worked best with the merc cleavers

I ran mine 1-3/8 above with a 4" plate and 200 pro max with Sportmaster running 14-1/2x28 offshore, smaller diameter 30p 4 blade Spinelli, and even a 15x32 SC3. Handled good like that with any of those props. When I first got it, it was +/- 3/4 below and handled like you're describing. You should go up a little more, especially if you have more set back. Just watch water pressure and pay attention to steering torque-if it's a lot of torque, you're a little too high. Set up for top end, and set up for hauling a load will be different.
