what limits RPM?

IF THIS A CDM MOTOR, THE REV LIMITER IS IN THE CONTROL MODULE. ONLY THE CARB CONTROL MODULES HAVE THE REV LIMITERS IN THEM, NOT THE EFI. YOU CAN INSTALL THE EFI MODULE ONTO THE CARB MOTOR TO ELIMINATE THE LIMITER. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO REPLACE YOUR PLUGS. GO FROM THE BU8H'S TO THE BUZH NGK'S. HOPE THIS HELPS, MIKE

From what I have read and been told.

The "Switch Boxes" on a Mercury do not have RPM limiting like the OMC packs do.
The limiting comes from 2 separate boxes that are on the top of the motor and tie into the Switch Boxes.
Simply remove those 2 boxes from the system and put them on the bench.
No more limiter.

You are thinking about a CDI motor, not the CDM system smalltownbassin was asking about.
